Client Scenario of a University

The process of creating an academic calendar involves formulating an academic calendar committee which then discusses with various stakeholders of the university administration, departments and affiliated institutions on the various events that factor into the calendar and coming up with the most acceptable schedule. The schedule is then taken for approval in the Academic Council meeting and with the VC. The approved calendar is then uploaded for the public on the website and circulated to all institutes. In our case, the university had programme level academic calendars making this a significant manual task for the university. We also have certain definite rules around meetings and durations of certain events/terms that we need to ensure meeting for compliance against acts and norms defined by various government and regulating bodies.

With Calark the process is now automated. We have easy access to reference calendars for all the users, the system helps us define the calendars we need to have for the year and have the required approvals done online. By just flagging the calendar as publish online, we now can have the calendar made available for the public. We can have calendar makers of say, sports department viewing the other calendars planned in the university, while preparing their calendar, making it convenient for them to plan the right dates for the event. Calendar also has a Rule manager that ensures compliances for various calendar types on say Maharashtra Universities Act, norms set by UGC, Bar Council of India etc on the term duration for programmes.
